The use of mathematical modelling and computer simulation for the study and prediction of biological and biomedical processes is quickly growing, covering from the molecular level to the systemic one. These techniques have important applications in clinical medicine, biology, design of medical devices, pre-intervention planning and epidemiologic and demographic studies.

ICCB2005 objective is to promote a forum for the discussion and diffusion of the recent advances in Computational Bioengineering trying to detect common areas of potential collaboration between researchers of different disciplines within this area. It is also an important purpose to encourage exchanges between researchers trying to detect areas for cooperation and for the development of partnerships for new research and educational actions in bioengineering.
